LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - Sunday is Flag Day, the day Congress set aside to honor Old Glory and it was observed in a ceremony in Longview.
Members of American Legion Post 131 commemorated the holiday with a special ceremony at Eastman Estates retirement home. The traditional folding of the flag was held, along with the meanings behind each fold. Many World WarII and Korean War veterans reside at the home, and like many of their generation, feel the flag is a symbol of American tenacity.
This was the third year Eastman Estates hosted the Flag Day ceremony. The stars and stripes were officially designated as the United States standard on June 14th 1777.
