LUFKIN, TX (KLTV) - Through three innings, it looked like Lufkin would end their 46 year championship drought.  The Panthers led 2 to 0, with Luis DeJesus dominating from the mound.  The tide turned with a single swing in the fourth.

El Paso Socorro's Corey Falvey hit a two run home run to the tie the game at two.  Falvey then followed with a grand slam in the fifth.  A two run deficit quickly turned into a 12 to 3 Socorro lead.   Lufkin did not throw in the towel, scoring four runs in the bottom the seventh inning.  But it was not enough as the Panthers fell in the 5A state title game 12 to 7.  Lufkin ends the year 30 and 10.
