LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - It's the picture perfect day little girls dream of with flowers, cakes, you name it, but sometimes it comes with a fearful price tag.

"The best way, the very best, best way to save money is to cut your guest list," said Judy Hart, a top wedding planner in Longview. "Most people, if they cut their guest list to 100 people, they could have any wedding that they wanted."

Hart's company "In the Event" plans extravagant weddings, and her advice on finding vendors is to shop around.

"Sometimes you can find a photographer whose kind of new who will do your wedding just for the opportunity to put the pictures out," said Hart.

Also, see if your photographer provides you with a free disk of photos. Then you can print your own.

"That's a really, really, big way to save money," said Hart. "More like $500 or $600, as opposed to 8 to 10,000."

Wendy Ravellette co-owns Gowns of Distinction in Longview.

"[They are] still affordable at under $1,000," said Ravellette. "Under $1,000, if you saw something like this is New York...you would spend way, way much more then under a $1,000 very beautiful gown."

Ravellette also says you should also see if your dress store provides layaway. If you're really strapped for cash, don't just rent your tux, but your gown as well.

"It's one day," said . "At the end of the day, the outcome is always the same...you're married!"

You'll be married and hopefully not broke even on a rainy day.

Here's a final tip: Instead of having a sit down dinner, cut out the alcohol and just serve appetizers during the reception.
