WebXtra: Beware at the ATM!

TEXAS (KLTV) - You just wouldn't believe the cunning way that scam artists are disguising ATM's. They install what's called a skimmer, a piece of equipment that looks just like a normal part of an ATM but it's the scammer's tool to steal all of your money.

Pictures show what the equipment looks like. The skimmer is mounted to the front of the ATM card slot. It reads your card number and transmits it to the crooks, who are usually sitting in a nearby car. Now, at the same time there's a hidden, wireless camera disguised in what looks like a leaflet holder, usually hanging on the side of the ATM.

We know this type of scam is here in Texas and we're heading to the Better Business Bureau to bring you more details and tips of how you can avoid falling victim.
