Plenty Of Heart

East Texas Medical Center is giving a gift that could end up saving your life. Today, "ETMC EMS" donated two defibrillators-- one to the Smith County Courthouse the other to Tyler City Hall. Each defibrillator cost 3-thousand dollars.

The device sends an electrical shock intended to restart a cardiac arrest victim's heart. Each year, two hundred and twenty five thousand people die from sudden cardiac arrest. Doctors say it's crucial to respond within the first 4 minutes of a cardiac arrest for a person to survive. Courthouse bailiffs and security personnel will be trained to use the devices.
