Two East Texas doctors disciplined by Texas Medical Board

EAST TEXAS (KLTV) - At the Texas Medical Board's May 28-29th meeting, 71 doctors were disciplined. Two of them practice in East Texas. In the TMB's news release, both doctor's were cited for Unprofessional Conduct Violations.

Dr. Deward D. McDonald of Longview was told by the Board to obtain five hours each of continuing medical education in ethics and boundary violations within one year and pay a $1,000 administrative penalty within 90 days of May 2009. The TMB's statement said, "The action was based on Dr. McDonald's having an inappropriate sexual relationship with a patient on whom he performed a breast biopsy."

Nacogdoches doctor, James R. Young, M.D. was reprimanded for "abusive behavior toward other physicians and staff" while trying to stabilize a post-operative patient. The Board is requiring him to pay an administrative penalty of $5,000 within 30 days.
