Already this week, nine east texas school districts have canceled classes because of high rates of illness related absences. Four school districts announced Wednesday they are canceling classes because their students are sick with "flu-like" symptoms. Rains I.S.D. In Emory, Elkhart I.S.D. In Anderson County, Jefferson I.S.D. In Marion County, and Van in Van Zandt County announced Wednesday they are closing their doors temporarily. Pewitt, Pittsburg, and Hawkins school districts had already canceled classes for the rest of the week. Right now, all of those districts say they are resuming classes Monday.
