HAWKINS, TX (KLTV) - The state says he is responsible for dumping hundreds of thousands of tires in Hawkins. Wood County district attorney Jim Wheeler says Robert Foster turned himself in to the Wood County jail this morning. Last month, a grand jury indicted Foster on Illegal Dumping charges. That's for the tire dump site in south Hawkins that resulted in an enormous fire last week.
Before he turned himself in, Foster appeared before a Wood County judge. He is also being sued by a cement company out of Kansas. East Texas News tried talking to Foster at Tuesday morning's court appearance, but he would not answer our questions.
Wheeler says Foster faces up to two years in prison and a $10,000 fine for the illegal dumping charge.
