Elysian Fields, Tx (KLTV) - Elysian Fields is a team that is used to winning.

"State championships are the thing in Elysian Fields that the people like to see."

This year is no different.

"We had, in my opinion the toughest district in the state, and after we got out of it, we knew that we could go all the way." said shortstop Savannah Quintana.

"Our first game was Harleton," said pitcher Blair Hickey, "and we won 1-0 and it was here, and it was a really big game and we really started gelling then."

"I feel that this is the best team that I have every played on, it is an honor to be with them," said senior Cheryl Boyett.

Blair Hickey has alot to do with it...the junior has nearly as many pitches as losses.

"I throw a fastball, a drop ball, a change up, a riseball, and a screwball."

The 'Jackets head to Austin as a team on a roll, trying to repeat the magic of years past.

"Ever since the 'Dream Team' of 2005, we have always wanted to live up to that expectation," said Quintana.

And a win at state, would put an exclaimation point on the career of the lone 'Jacket senior.

"She started off as a freshman at state, and she is going to leave as a senior," said head coach Shane Smelley, on senior Cheryl Boyett.

"I made it to the playoffs my freshman year, and I am excited to go back to Austin, you start in Austin and end in Austin, but this time we will win," said Boyett.

I asked her if she thought if she had left the program in good hands, she simpley answered,

"I think I have, it is pretty good."

The 'Jackets will face Brock at 2:00 from Austin on Thursday.
