TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Homeowners have or will soon get a notice in the mail of their estimated appraisal value.
While many Smith County residents have not gotten their notices yet, we have gotten some calls from residents in other counties, alarmed at an increased appraisal value.
We're heading to the Smith County Appraisal District to ask not only how the process works, but also since home prices are down, why should appraisals go up?
Now, if you do get your notice and want to challenge it, counties says you'll have 30 days to do so. A review board will hold hearings probably the last week of June.
