Karaoke benefit for paralyzed East Texan

LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - It was an unusual benefit fundraiser in Longview Sunday night to help an accident victim with mounting medical bills. Food, fun, and even slightly off-key singing at the reserve in Longview was to help a neighbor who needed it.

Injured in a car accident in February, Chuck Minehart remains paralyzed in a Houston hospital. The karaoke fundraiser was to help with Chuck's medical bills.

For a donation, anyone could humiliate themselves with any song they wish, and isn't it worth a little humiliation?

"That's what best friends do, if your best friend is in trouble needs help, you do anything you can do to help him out," said Chuck's best friend and organizer of the event, Kevin Mitchell.

"They're coming in support of him and in support of his family,  said Sara Plummer. "He knows it's karaoke and that it's his favorite thing to do."

Organizers hope to raise a thousand dollars from the benefit.

If you'd like to help you can make a donation to the Chuck Minehart Benefit Fund at any Southside bank.
