TYLER, TX (KLTV) - It's been a part of downtown Tyler for close to 100 years and soon it will help bring a little culture to the heart of the city.

Heart of Tyler and Main Street Tyler are organizing the renovation project. It's a $100,000 undertaking. The Gallery Main Street will provide the citizens of Tyler with a center, blending business with the arts.

"One of the keys to the economic development of downtown is capitalizing what's unique about us, and what's unique about us is our history in our built environment and so we've tried to do what we call adaptive re-use of old buildings," explained Beverly Abell, the director of Heart of Tyler.

Renovations to Gallery Main Street are scheduled to finish up this August.

On Monday the Associated Press released its top 25 preseason poll for college football. And for the third straight year, Texas A&M didn't make the cut. Starting fast though and moving their way up the polls in recent seasons hasn't been the problem. In fact, the Aggies, who have over a dozen East Texans on the roster, were number four in the initial playoff rankings last year.
