Vatican Exhibit Won't Visit East Texas

It looks like East Texas will not be getting an ancient Etruscan art exhibit at any of its museums.

The Longview Museum of Fine Art spent several months working to bring a Vatican exhibit of jewelry and artifacts to Gregg County. But, Monday the museum's board officially declined an offer which would have cost the museum more than a million dollars.

Board members said the costs for the exhibit kept going up. At the same time, the perceived value of the items decreased. The final proposed exhibit included artworks from a private collection, not pieces in the Vatican's official collection.
