LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - Police say a brawl in the street erupted into gunfire, sending two people to the hospital.
Around 7:20 Wednesday night, officers were called to Ridglea Avenue near Clover Lane.
Witnesses tell us as many as 30 shots were fired. While the exact conditions of the victims have not been released, we are told one of the victims was being treated for life-threatening injuries.
Police closed off the area in a frantic search for the shooters. One witness says the scene was, quote, explosive.
"We know there was a large group of people fighting when the first call came in," said officer Kevin Brownlee of the Longview Police Department. "Neighbors and witnesses had called that in saying they'd seen a large group fighting. There weren't any shots at that time, just a group of people fighting out in the roadway. As officers arrived, that's when it changed status as a shots fired call."
So far, no arrests have been made.
