ALAMEDIA, CA (KLTV) - According to an ABC report, teaching about same-sex parents may soon be mandatory in some California elementary schools.
The school board approved a plan to teach six, 45 minute lessons to kindergarten through fifth graders. They are planning on adding the curriculum to an existing anti-bullying lesson.
"I believe this curriculum will prevent other students from going through what I went through because of my sexual orientation," said one high school student.
Some parents and two of the school district's board members believe the students should not be forced to do the lessons, but the district's lawyers counseled against it.
What do you think about the new curriculum? Should students have a choice about doing the lessons?
