KILGORE, TX (KLTV) - The town of Kilgore woke up early to show their respect and patriotism.
Kilgore citizens gathered in Harris Street Park for their annual Memorial Day service. A monument wall displayed all of the city's fallen soldiers and veterans from all wars. Folks say even though the memorial service is an annual event, it's a day people should take pride in.
"I had a brother in lawn in the Marines in World War II and they're my heroes, and I love to come out to this service each year to honor our veterans," said Charles Whiteside, a Korean War Veteran.
About 40 people attended the memorial tribute. American Legion post #46, VFW post 6524, and the Disabled American Veterans sponsored the ceremony.
