GILMER, TX (KLTV) - Over 200 people gathered on Gilmer's courthouse lawn for a Memorial Day tribute to our fallen soldiers.

The ceremony, sponsored by VFW 6715, featured the Gilmer High School ROTC posting colors, and the placing of a wreath by Marie Robertson, who lost her son in Vietnam. Joan Hallmark was guest speaker, and was presented a special plaque for her "Freedom Fighters" stories running on KLTV 7.

A number of veterans from World War II, Korea, and Vietnam were in the crowd, as well as those still serving in the military. In addition to the ultimate sacrifice honored on Memorial Day, commander Huey Jones says there are many sacrifices our military make for our country such as anniversaries and important milestones in their children's lives.
