"Their loss. Their loved ones. Our comrades."

NACOGDOCHES, TX (KLTV) - In Nacogdoches, attention focused on family members of fallen soldiers. They represented the sacrifices made in five wartime conflicts. The sorrow united widows, mothers, sisters and brothers who said most of all, the Memorial Day observances bring them comfort.

"They're the focus of it they're the ones that we're honoring," said Gary Hornbuckle, the Vietnam Veterans Pineywoods chapter President. "Them. Their loss. Their loved ones. Our comrades."

The mother of one of the first Nacogdoches County soldiers to die in Iraq was also honored. Janet Buford's son, Specialist Travis Buford died two years ago assisting wounded fellow soldiers.
