RUSK COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - She was on her way home when, Henderson police say, the 42-year-old Rusk County woman stopped at a Walgreen's on Highway 79 south. Police say she parked on the side of the store, went inside and bought a few items.
"When she started pulling off from the parking lot, she noticed there were two people - she says two white males [were] behind her," explained Lt. Craig Sweeney, with the Henderson Police Department. "She was in a mini van style vehicle and they basically just told her to keep driving."
Police say the men told the woman to drive to a remote location near an RV park off Highway 259 south, and that's where police say the men sexually assaulted her. After the assault, police say the woman got back in her van, alone, and called 9-1-1. Right now, police say all they know about the suspects is they are white males in their '20s. They do have surveillance video from Walgreen's that shows the front of the store.
"We are checking with the video to see if there is anything to do with the suspects that might fit this description, that we can at least get a picture, or video, or if they bought something that might help us identify them," said Sweeney.
In the meantime, police remind people to be aware of their surroundings. Lock your doors and park in a well lit area.
At this time, police say they do not know how the men got into the woman's van. Because the alleged sexual assault happened in the county, the Rusk County sheriff's office is helping in the investigation.
