TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Tyler ISD is proud to announce that Randy Fleet, a basketball coach at Moore MST Middle School has been named a 2009 Middle School Basketball Coach of the Year by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC).

Rick Sherley, the Executive Director of TABC said, "that successful programs begin at the middle school level. Tyler ISD is fortunate to have a coach and role model for young student athletes like coach Fleet. We need more like him and the other coaches selected for this award."

Fleet is among only 14 coaches from the state of Texas selected for this honor. Each year the TABC awards seven boys' coaches and seven girls' coaches the Middle School Basketball Coach of the Year award.

"Coach Randy Fleet has done a wonderful job in the development of young athletes in Tyler," said Alan Johnson, Robert E. Lee High School Basketball Coach, who nominated Fleet. "His dedication and commitment to the youth of our school district is evident in the student/athletes that move from his school to the high school level. I could not think of a more deserving teacher/coach for this prestigious award."

Coaches are nominated for this honor for going above and beyond their role as a coach.
