TYLER, TX (KLTV) - An overnight manhunt lead to the capture of two inmates who escaped from the Gregg County Jail under maximum security.

Bruce Kelly was captured around 10pm Tuesday night. He was discovered outside a home near State Highway 22 and FM 2011. That's near the East Texas Regional Airport in the town of Elderville.

Overnight, several law enforcement officers searched by ground and air for the other escaped inmate, Desmond Jackson.

Authorities say both men were hiding under a carport between two vehicles.

That's when Kelly was caught and arrested, and homeowner, Matthew Pruitt,  realized the two escape inmates were hiding out right outside of his home.

"I'm just glad that I didn't come out any sooner than what we did," said Pruitt. "Otherwise, I probably would have come face to face with them. I have a 4-year-old son. Glad he didn't get the idea to go outside and plan before bed time that's for sure."

At that time, Desmond Jackson was able to get away. But deputies tracked him down a few hours later. After a short car chase he was arrested outside the East Texas Regional Airport.

Again, Bruce Kelly and Desmond Jackson are back behind bars Wednesday morning. They'll be arraigned on escape charges.
