TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Good news for java junkies. Those who enjoy a good cup of coffee can feel a little bit better. That's because a new study ranks coffee as the #1 source of antioxidants in the U.S. diet.
Antioxidants help your body fight off cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and stroke. Monday's study from the University of Scranton, revealed black tea then bananas as the next best source of antioxidants.
As with anything, Doctors recommend drinking tea, red wine, and coffee in moderation. The Doctor who led this coffee study says drinking one cup of joe a day is best and gives the optimum benefit for your heart.
We're meeting with an Oncologist in Tyler this afternoon to weigh in on the study and give coffee drinkers some healthy tips. Catch the full report on KLTV tonight.
