Auto Society Builds Mission Vehicle

LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - The Letourneau University Automotive Society is building a special, heavy duty off-road vehicle for Ben Colby's family. Colby and his family are missionaries headed to the west African nation of Liberia. Through donations and volunteer labor, the group is building a $20,000 land cruiser. It will have four wheel drive and easily handle the rugged terrain of Liberia.

"We can't thank these guys enough. I mean if we had to do this alone it would be challenging. I'm not a mechanic and these guys know that," saidColby.

"Building land cruisers is my thing, and if I can build a land cruiser that's going to serve the missionaries who are doing the work, then I'm going to do that every single time," said project leader Josh Stralow.

The society says they still need some assistance with the project, and you can help by making donations to the Letourneau University Auto Society at 2100 South Mobberly.
