NACOGDOCHES, TX (KLTV) - Each year more than 10,000 qualified high school seniors apply for the U.S. Air Force Academy. About 1,600 individuals are selected. This time, a Nacogdoches High School graduate is one of them.

Blake Ishmael shared the news at a morning awards ceremony at his school. The appointment is an all inclusive four year scholarship with a value of $40,000 per year. He had some advice for underclassmen that want to follow in his footsteps.

"Just whatever you do, just work hard and don't get discouraged when everything gets tough," said Ishmael. "Just keep going and never give up."

Ishmael will report to the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs on June 25th for basic training.
