East Texas Coach sentenced for improper relationship with student

UPSHUR, COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - The Upshur County District Attorney says John Cotcha Tiger was sentenced, Tuesday, to 15 years in prison for having an improper relationship with a student, and 15 years for online solicitation of a minor.

Tiger plead guilty for the second degree felonies. Along with his prison time, Tiger will be required to register as a sex offender. District Attorney Billy Byrd says Tiger will also surrender his teaching certificate.

Tiger was a teacher and coach in the New Diana school district. Before that he taught at the Union Hill school district.
