Board Trustees Hire New Superintendent

During Monday night's school board meeting, trustees voted to hire Dr. Dana Marable.

Earlier, Dr. Marable spent the day visiting campuses, staff and students.

"As we walked into classrooms I saw children learning. I saw teachers teaching and happy people."

"Larger school and a larger challenge that I've had. And it's a good time in my career to take that next step to a larger school."

"What I would like to do is carry it to the next level and actually achieve academic excellence at all levels and make sure every child has the opportunity to be successful in Longview."

"The first thing is to very quietly observe, get your bearings. Find the strengths. Unite the district to come together. I can't do this alone. I don't intend to do it alone."

"I think that the team spirit that I've seen just in one day has made me real excited about pulling everyone together and getting everyone to the point that we can work and build the school district into the leader in Texas."

"Tonight's going to be a turning point for me and my life and my family because I will be signing a contract with the Longview school district and in effect turning in my resignation at Marble Falls school district."

"I'm positive that this school district we're going to be united. We're going to have one goal in mind. That is academic excellence for every single child in Longview school district. And that's not a hope it's a vision and it's what's going to happen."

Dr. Dana Marable has been the Superintendent at Marble Falls I.S.D. for the past four years and brings with her 32-years of experience in education.

A reception in her honor will be held immediately after trustees formally hire her.
