KILGORE, TX (KLTV) - The music was "banging" and students were "swanging" at this year's Region Seven Prom.

"I'm more excited than they are, and you see how excited they are," said Kathy Alexander, the Special Ed Director for Kilgore ISD. "This has been a blessing for us to host. It's just been fantastic. The kids love this time of year."

From taking prom pictures to doing a little two step, the students were having the prom of a lifetime.

"This is Megan Jump and I'm her buddy," said Kassidi Turlington, a 10th grade buddy. "She's having so much fun, she's dancing, she interacts with everybody. She amazing!"

"What's the best part about the prom," I asked high schooler, Blake Johnson.

"Girls," exclaimed the 16-year-old, flashing a big smile.

But it gets better with this 16-year-old who is very popular with the ladies.

"So, the best part about the prom is the girls because they like you," I asked Johnson.

"Yes," he exclaimed.

"You're like the best looking guy at school," I asked.

"Yes," he laughed.

Johnson's not the only cute grinning dancing machine. The ladies have their share too.

"One thing I really like is dancing with boys," said Kathy Richey.

"Why you like dancing with boys," I asked her.

"Well, my mom got me into that," she exclaimed, pointing to her mom.

"I'm enjoying all my friends here," said Amanda King, a Longview High student. "[I am] meeting new people, that I never seen before."

With great moves and fun times it was one prom that is sure to be unforgettable.

"I think they're going to take away some memories that will never ben forgotten and I'm just so excited for them," said Alexander.

Organizers say over 30 East Texas school districts, about 500 students, attended the prom.
