Merry Christmas At The Courthouse 2002

Grab the family and get ready for some Christmas fun.

The Gregg county courthouse invites you to "Christmas At The Courthouse".

For the first time Gregg County is sponsoring a Christmas celebration on the lawn of the courthouse complete with a house for Santa.

There'll also be carriage rides, live musical entertainment and refreshments and of course lights, lights and more lights.

The county saved money by using inmate labor to get the courthouse ready.

"We were able to use tax dollars better and utilize the inmates that need to do community service work to make restitution for some things they've done.  It also makes better citizens out of them," says Judge Mickey Smith.

Events get started this Thursday after the Christmas parade and will continue every Friday and Saturday night from 6:00 to 9:00.
