TYLER, TX (KLTV) - He made an impact in East Texas that won't be forgotten and Saturday friends and family remembered Dr. Edwin Fowler.

A memorial service for Tyler Junior College Educator Dr. Fowler, or "Pinky" was held in Tyler.

First arriving at T.J.C. in 1947 as a band instructor, Fowler retired in 1985 as Vice President of Student Services.  He's best known for putting the T.J.C. band on the map and helping the then new campus grow.

"He was really everything except janitor and president and over the years he just changed TJC. Through him the band was able to perform for Cowboys Superbowl Games with Bob Hope," said T.J.C. Alumni Director Betty Briggs.

Fowler is survived by his wife, son, and grand daughters. A music building on the T.J.C. campus has been named in remembrance of his legacy.
