What NOT to buy for your mother

LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - She cared and nurtured you growing up, and this weekend is the time we say thank you and recognize the importance of mothers.

A gift should be thoughtful and meaningful, but there are lots of "no-no's" when looking for a gift for mom. If you're hastily doing last minute shopping for mom, there are lots of areas to avoid.

Such as, a new set on wrenches, ice skates, shop saws and paintball vest.

What about a vacuum cleaner, you make ask. It is useful. No. Definitely NOT a Mother's Day gift.

And, if your were considering an industrial sized mumu...bad idea.

Of course, you can't go wrong with movies...so long as they don't include Beaches or Mommy Dearest.

"Well, mom's do like candles," said Katie Shaw, a CD's and more sales person. "They like to make the home smell warm and inviting."

If all else fails, be safe...stick with flowers.
