"Project Linus": East Texas children give back

BULLARD, TX (KLTV) - Linus, the character from the comic Peanuts, is famous for his ever-present security blanket. But he's not the only young person out there that needs a little comfort sometimes.

The fifth graders at Brook Hill lower school spent the day making blankets for Project Linus. When they are done, the blankets will go to kids at places like ETMC and Child Protective Services. The kids say they feel pretty good about that.

"I thought maybe, like, a baby would want cats or something, and that's why I decided to choose this one," said Tanner Smith, a Brook Hill 5th grader.

"When they're feeling sad, or they feel like they need to hug somebody, they just need a blanket to hug like a best friend," said Emily Mimms, a brook Hill 5th grader.

The kids each saved up to bring in their own fleece for the blankets. For more information, go to projectlinus.org.
