A Kilgore man accused of shooting a deer hunter will stay out of jail... if he stays out of trouble. 18 year old Michael Sheppard was charged in Rusk County for a November incident, in which he fired a shot at 20 year old Keith Vanliew, who was sleeping in a deer stand. The bullet shattered the hunter's gun; but, amazingly, Vainlew got away without a scratch. Sheppard claimed that Vanliew was trespassing on a deer lease. Sheppard was charged with deadly conduct. If he doesn't violate the law over the next two years. The charges will be dropped.
