Patriots making second straight trip to regionals

Two regional appearances in two years.

The UT Tyler softball team is back in a familiar spot.

Last season, UT Tyler hosted the NCAA Division III Regional Tournament. Becoming a full NCAA member in 2007, the Patriots qualified for regionals in both years of their eligibility.

Last weekend they won the ASC tournament crown. The Patriots are happy to be where they are, but will be happier with another few weeks of play.

"Last year we were happy to get in regionals, we were happy to be ranked," catcher Brittanni Hanna said. "But this year, we're going in having won the conference. Our goal is to win conference and now we're going to win regionals and not just be in regionals."

"We're ready for it," centerfielder Cori Green said. "I mean we're ready for any team that's there. We have full confidence in ourselves that we can take first place and that we're going to go to nationals."

UT Tyler will play in the West Regional, hosted by East Texas Baptist University. Their first game is against Redlands from california, at 10 a.m. on Thursday.
