State Warns of Clogged Roads

The Thanksgiving rush began Wednesday afternoon. Some roads will be more congested than others. The Department of Transportation warns some of the biggest delays will be in East Texas on highways clogged with construction.

Interstate 20 in Canton between County Road 3412 and FM 859 is reduced to one lane each way. US 80 in Van Zandt County between Edgewood and Wills Point dropped to one lane east and west. And US 79 in Cherokee County between Nance Street and and Jacksonville is also down to one lane because of construction.

If you do get into trouble heading to grandma's house, there is a state wide hotline you can call. 1-800-525-5555 is the Stranded/Disabled Motorist Helpline. If you call this number, DPS will send a trooper to your location to help you out.
