Lake O' The Pines, Tx (KLTV) - When it was over, one big bass paid off."

"Some one had to win, it just happened to be me."

Longviews Danny Watson walked away with more than $105,000 dollars in cash and prizes and won the KYKX "Big Bass Bonanza."

His fish weighed just a hair under 10.5 pounds.

"I am sort of numb, all of my friends and family showed up, everyone calling me," said Watson."everything went great."

Watson outlasted 3,000 fisherman to take the title and a new boat, but he wasn't the only winner.

Longview's Tyler Jones took the junior angler title.

"The first thing I did when I got in the boat was drop my poll and give my dad a hug," said Jones, whos big fish weighed in at over 8 pounds.

"The amazing thing about this tournament is that it shows a whole lot of the conditions that Lake O' the Pines is in," said tournament emcee Barry Hanson, "great water and great fishing, only two fish in the top ten under 8 pounds."

In fact, the top 10 were all East Texas natives.

"This is a good lake to fish on," said Gilmer's Joshua Bullock, who finished second, "I love coming out here and fishing, this place has got a lot of big fish in it."

And lots of prizes, means lots of money.

The tournament raised over $250,000 dollars for the local economy, and gave fishermen everywhere a chance to win it all...with one lucky cast...and family by their side.

"There is nothing like winning with your family."

With the smallest enrollment in District 17-5A, and really across the entire classification, Lindale could use that as an excuse for a sub-par season. But under defensive coordinator, turned head coach Chris Cochran, that won't be the case.
