Grassroots movement hits Tyler

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Two weeks ago, the Tea Party rallies of tax day drew crowds of hundreds in several East Texas communities.  Saturday, in downtown Tyler, close to 500 East Texans met on the square.

Called the We The People Rally, the gathering was sponsored by Grassroots America.  Local speakers took to the stage sharing their thoughts on government choices.

"This is a way to keep things going, and it's not just about rallies and ra-ra speeches," said speaker Jason Wright.  "It's about Americans getting educated about our constitution, understand why we feel the way we do, understand what our founding fathers thought and believed in the founding of this nation, so that we can keep their dream, which has become ours alive."  Started just two months ago, the organization's mission is educating people on individual freedoms through limited government and the free market.
