LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - Around 12:35 a.m., Saturday Longview police say they were called out to the Hidden Hill Apartments at 614 Gilmer Road for a report of a fight that was occurring in the parking lot. Police say the anonymous caller told dispatchers that several subjects were involved in the fight and one of the persons fighting had gotten "knocked out".
Officers were on the scene in less than two minutes and discovered the subject had become unconscious during the fight. Police identified him as Gregorio Perez Hernandez, 18 and say he was taken inside of an apartment by his friends. EMS then took Hernandez to Good Shepherd Medical Center, where police say he later died.
Longview Police Detectives and crime scene investigators were called out to the scene and say detectives began interviewing witnesses. Detectives were told Hernandez had been at a large party in an apartment at Hidden Hills. It was learned that the majority of the people in attendance at the party were minors, and that they were consuming alcohol. At some point during the party, an altercation occurred. Police say the altercation led to a fight between several subjects, including Hernandez, outside in the parking lot, in which Hernandez became unconscious. There were no weapons involved in the fight.
Gregg County Justice of the Peace Precinct 2 Arthur Fort was summoned to the hospital and he ordered an autopsy to be performed. Hernandez's body was then transported to the Southeast Texas Forensics Center in Tyler.
Detectives have identified all of the parties involved in the altercation and subsequent fight and have taken statements. It is unknown at this time whether criminal charges will be filed or not in relation to Hernandez's death. Charges were filed on numerous minors attending the party for consuming alcohol and on two additional subjects for providing alcohol to minors.
