New Evidence in Kilgore KFC Murders

Two East Texas prison inmates have been linked through DNA evidence to a Kilgore murder 19 years ago.

Rusk county officials confirmed reports that a nationwide DNA database indicated that genetic material from two men matched that of blood samples from the crime scene.

It was September 23rd of 1983 when 5 people were kidnapped from a Kentucky Fried Chicken in Kilgore. Their bodies were found on a Rusk County oil lease road the next day. All were shot to death.

The Texas inmates, 44 year old Romeo Pinkerton jailed in the Skyview unit in Rusk, and 41 year old Darnell Harstfield jailed in Tennessee Colony have been linked by blood evidence to the case.

No one has ever been tried for the murders. FBI agents are back in Rusk County investigating the case.
