LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV)-- An East Texan will play for ''America's Team.''

Sunday afternoon, former Tatum Eagle Stephen Hodge was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the sixth round of the NFL Draft. Stephen was the 197th overall pick.

Shortly after his selection, he spoke with KLTV 7 Sports Director Maya Golden. Stephen said after a workout with the Cowboys, he felt he had a strong chance of joining the team.

"I guess you can say, it's a dream come true," Stephen said. "Jerry (Jones) called and he just let me know he was excited to have me on the team and I got to speak with Wade Phillips the head coach."

"I feel like I'm going to be a part of a great organization and having the new stadium and then just having the whole state of Texas supporting you, and everyone knows the Cowboys are the best. So, I'll be playing for the best team there is."

After playing his high school career with the Eagles, Stephen played at TCU. He joked he is not unfamiliar with the Metroplex.

"I have to speak back with my agent then we will get everything squared away and I'll be ready for mini-camp."
