Texas College has had some big sports names speak at their athletic banquet.
The list includes Texas Western star Neville Shead and former Dallas Cowboy Everson Walls.
Friday night, former WNBA star and hall of famer Cynthia Cooper-Dykes gave the keynote speech.
She won four WNBA titles with the Houston Comets. Her message to Steer athletes was her own story.
"I just share my story," Cooper-Dykes told KLTV 7. "Coming from the inner-city of Watts, playing at USC first and then going overseas, spending 11 years pursuing professional basketball and then coming back to America for the WNBA and now I coach, so I've had a long journey and it hasn't always been easy. I've always persevered and always wanted to be the best."
Cooper-Dykes is currently the head women's basketball coach at Prairie View A&M.
