TYLER, TX (KLTV) - "Hot pink, do you like that color," the pedicurist asked the little girl.

"Yes ma'am, that's good," replied the girl.

"What about that red, or do you want a sparkly red," asked the pedicurist.

"Sparkly red," she replied.

These were important decisions for 11-year-old Blanca, as she settled in for a day of pampering at the Belladonna Day Spa in Tyler.

"Have you ever had a pedicure before," I asked her.

"No ma'am," she politely replied. "This is my first time."

With bubbles dancing around her feet and a chair massage, Blanca enjoyed the relaxing process. Today, she felt like a princess.

"I'm just so happy today," she exclaimed. "I am very excited."

"You like feeling special," I asked her.

"Yes ma'am," she replied.

It's the getaway this young girl needs after spending the past five years in foster care.

"I've been in foster care every since I was little."

Blanca was removed from her home because of neglect and her family's drug use.

"I want to have a family that will love and take care of me and I know that my foster family does that for me but most of the time I'm just tired of being in foster care I just want to be in a real home that will take care of me and love me," Blanca explained.

And one that will make her feel accepted and reassured.

"She has problems expressing her feelings but if you sit down with her with an open heart and mind she will express her feelings to you," said her caseworker, Triciana Porter-Jackson. "She loves to sit and have a long conversation just so that she can have that attention."

Despite a lot of uncertainty in her life, the 5th grader is working hard to ensure a successful future.

"[I make] A's and B's," Blanca said.

"Good for you," I said. "What's your favorite subject?"

"Science and math and sometimes reading," she replied.

"And, what do you want to be when you grow up," I asked.

"[I want to be a] veterinarian," she replied.

She has also figured out the secret to making and keeping friends.

"It's like, whenever you treat others like you want to be treated," she explained. "I treat them the way I want to be treated."

Besides getting her nails done, this polite young lady enjoys riding her bike, girl scouts, dancing and singing, specifically gospel songs, and says her faith is important.

"I love believing in God," she said. "God is my favorite. He loves and takes care of me and he gives me anything. If I need a family he will probably bless me with a family."

It's a prayer she hopes will be answered soon.

"I love being part of a family."

And, although her day at the spa did come to an end...

"Do you like them," I asked her looking at her nails.

"Yes ma'am, I do." she replied. "Yes, they look good."

The smile on her face continues to beam as a hopeful young girl waits for the gift of love.
