A group of East Texas volunteers are getting a jump on the spirit of giving.. Volunteers from the Longview Regional Medical Center auxiliary were busy Thursday with a new project called "Shoe Boxes for Kids". Each volunteer bought presents for needy children who are in Longview area foster care homes. Now they will go through the process of wrapping the presents, which must fit inside a shoe box. For many, it's like being a parent again. The volunteers hope to give gifts to more than 300 children in foster care in the Longview area. The gifts will be delivered by Christmas Eve.
