Police Say Southside Bank Robber Caught

Nine days after a bank is robbed inside a crowded grocery store, authorities nab a suspect. Southside Bank officials were relieved to hear 20-year old Eryka Templeton of Tyler was arrested for robbing a Southside bank branch located inside Albertson's grocery store.

But Southside bank president Sam Dawson says the good news is somewhat tempered, because it's possible a bank employee was also involved in the robbery. So far, authorities have not named any other suspects, but they continue to investigate.

"I guess Erika Templeton is the person that was armed and did the robbery," said Dawson. "I do not know her (Templeton). She has never been an employee of ours."

Arrest affidavits show Templeton confessed to the robbery. The 20-year old was arraigned in front of a federal judge on Thursday afternoon. Templeton told U.S. Magistrate Judge Judith Guthrie that she has no job, no savings, no car and no personal property to pay for an attorney. Judge Guthrie appointed a public defender to handle Templeton's case.

The case goes to the grand jury in two weeks. If indicted and convicted, Templeton could face 25 years in prison.
