Call Waiting: SFA's Edison hoping to receive dream call

By: Coleman Swierc - email

This weekend SFA's Dominique Edison of San Augustine will wait for the call every kid who played the game of football dreams of receiving.

A franchise could be on the other end, welcoming Edison to their team.

It will be another major moment for the humble young star.

Dominique has done it all, a state title in high school and a record setting career in college, all while staying under the radar.

"You know thinking about records was not even on my mind," he said. "I just wanted to come to school and contribute to the team and to at least have my parents proud of me.

"A lot of people did not think I would be in the position that I am in, coming from a small school like San Augustine or Stephen F. Austin," Edison said.

Now he is out to prove them wrong. After an impressive pro day at SFA, Edison is climbing up the draft board.

"Right now it is anywhere from 4th round to 7th round," he explained.

Edison says their is no place he would rather hear the news than right here in East Texas with his family.

"Anytime I get to hang around my friends and family in my comfort zone, I love every minute of it."

But the minute his cell phone rings, expect the usually quiet Edison will not be much different.

"As of now I do not know how I am going to respond. I know that I am going to be happy and blessed and thankful at the same time."

Edison has worked out for several NFL teams. He says he would be proud to join any pro roster.

"I just want the opportunity to play football at the next leve. Anywhere would be fine with me."
