WINONA, TX (KLTV) - An East Texas woman was pulled over for driving too slowly, but authorities say the man who stopped her was not even an officer.
It happened on Highway 155 in Winona very early Sunday morning. The woman said the fake police officer did not even ask for identification. In fact, when she offered him her driver's license, the "officer" said "forget about it," and drove away.
Smith County Constable John Smith said he believes the man ran off because the woman was not alone in the car.
"It's always good, you know, to pull into a lit area where there's people," said Smith. "You know, her traveling this lonely stretch of highway - I'd suggest calling 9-11 just to make sure she's being pulled over by a police officer."
The woman described him as a white male in his late teens or early twenties. He was clean shaven, well groomed and he was average height (5'10" or 5'11").
The car he was driving had red lights mounted on the grill.
