TYLER, TX (KLTV) - They're calling him the "Crash Dummy Bandit." He's wanted in connection to two bank robberies in the Dallas area; one on Friday and the other Monday. He's also wanted for the robbery of a bank in Euless today. Just hours later, he hit the United Credit Union on Old Jacksonville in Tyler.
The so-called "Crash Dummy Bandit" is very distinct looking. He is a heavy set white male, sporting a straw hat with his left arm in a sling. Police think it is because of a medical condition and is not a fake. In the surveillance video, he can been seen walking up and putting a note down demanding money, then a teller is seen stuffing a bag full of money.
"As far as we know he was acting alone," said Don Martin with the Tyler PD. "He had a note stating that it was a robbery."
The FBI said he is wanted for at least three other robberies in the Dallas area. Surveillance video captured images at a bank in Euless Monday morning, at another bank in Dallas Monday morning and one from Friday in Dallas as well. Tyler police say the "Crash Dummy Bandit" was not armed.
"He did not present a weapon, I'll put it that way," said Martin.
Fortunately, no one was hurt, just a little shaken up. Brittany McFadden came to United Credit Union to talk about a mortgage, but got more than she bargained for.
"I was a little nervous 'cause I don't know, I just didn't see anything, but I'm still nervous," said McFadden.
Hopefully, with your help, the "Crash Dummy Bandit" can be caught.
Police say the robber was last seen driving a white Ford F-150 with gray or black bumpers. It had no front license plate.
