GLADEWATER, TX (KLTV) - An East Texas school celebrated a milestone birthday Friday.

Friday afternoon, Congressman Louie Gohmert presented a United States flag flown over the White House to Broadway Elementary School in Gladewater for its 75th birthday. Then, students buried a time capsule filled with all sorts of things, including one of the principal's own memorable items.

"There is even an old paddle that I used when I taught elementary school in Tyler, that I put in there that I actually used right here in Gladewater," laughed principal Darren Richardson. "I hope in 25 years when I'm 67-years-old. I [will] call come back to Gladewater and say, 'I remember putting that time capsule right there!'"

The school also decorated the auditorium with memorabilia from the last 75 years. They had everything from old school photo's to P.E. equipment.
