RUSK, TX (KLTV) - An East Texas veteran was honored with his medals, more than 50 years after he got out of the service.

Bob Brannon of Rusk served in the U.S. Navy from 1952 to 1958. During the time of his discharge, Brannon says he was in the hospital and never got his service medals. Congressman Jeb Hensarling presented Brannon with the National Defense and China Service medal.

"Well, I've been trying for years, I just wanted to show really that I was there," said Brannon. "I've got a lot of friends, I really have....dear friends."

Brannon says he has three more medals coming. Including the good conduct medal. He plans to put them on display at home for all to see.
