EAST TEXAS - Smith County Commissioners Court added two early voting days for the upcoming local option election for alcohol sales in Justice of the Peace Precinct 4 and Winona during a regular meeting on Monday.

By law, a county commissioner's court must add at least one Saturday and one Sunday early voting period if requested through a petition of 15 verified signatures. The addition of early voting days for the two local option elections in Smith County was petitioned for by political action group Smith County Citizens for Economic Growth.

Additional early voting for the election will be available from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 2 and Noon - 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 3. Citizens may vote at the Smith County Courthouse Annex Building or the Winona Administration Building on the newly added Saturday and Sunday during the early voting period.
