TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Two words spelled out what's spreading the word on a deadly disease: Super Colon. It is a traveling exhibit hitting 100 cities across the county. Dr. Gary Boyd, a gastrourologist said like the 20 foot colon, its message is one you can't ignore.

"It's really to raise awareness about something we've all got and that's a colon and the kinds of bad things that can happen and what you can do to prevent them," explained Boyd.

People visited all day Friday. Felicia Collins came for her mother who was diagnosed with colon cancer too late to treat it.

"This has taken on a very different effect for me," said Collins.

Getting extra credit on their day off, Shelby Armstrong and Holly Holliday gave the colon a check of their own.

Inside were explanations of different diseases and medical problems of the colon lined the realistic looking walls. Making it through, the girls brushed up on biology and left with added knowledge - which is the most important thing in the end.

Colon cancer is one of the most preventable cancers. To keep you and your loved ones healthy doctors recommend getting a colonoscopy if you have a family history of colon cancer or are over 40.
